Thug daltaí Tíreolaíochta na hArdteiste faoi staidéar allamuigh le déanaí i Kippure, Co. Chill Mhantáin, mar chuid den Tionscadal Tíreolaíochta, a chuireann 20% de mharcanna na hArdteistiméireachta ar fáil dóibh roimh an scrúdú scríofa.
Faoi threoir Oide Naoise agus Oide Laura, d’oibrigh na daltaí i ngrúpaí ag bailiú sonraí ar an Abhainn Life agus ar an Athdown Brook, ag déanamh tomhais ar:
✅ Luas na habhann
✅ Cruth agus méid na leapa
✅ Gnéithe tíreolaíochta a bhaineann le creimeadh agus sil-leagan
Léirigh an turas an tábhacht a bhaineann le foghlaim phraiticiúil, ag cur le scileanna ar nós taighde, bailiú sonraí, agus scríobh tuairiscí. Is deis luachmhar í seo chun dul chun cinn a dhéanamh sula gcuirtear peann le páipéar sa scrúdú deiridh.
Go raibh míle maith agat le foireann Kippure as an saineolas agus leis na múinteoirí as an treoir agus an tacaíocht leanúnach.

Our Leaving Certificate Geography students recently took part in their Field Study at Kippure, Co. Wicklow, completing an essential part of their coursework that counts for 20% of their overall grade before the written exam.
Under the guidance of Oide Naoise and Oide Laura, students worked in teams collecting data from the River Liffey and the Athdown Brook, carrying out measurements including:
✅ River velocity
✅ Cross-sectional area and bedload analysis
✅ Landform features linked to erosion and deposition
The trip highlighted the value of hands-on, practical learning—developing skills in research, data collection, analysis, and report writing. With such a significant portion of marks secured through this project, it’s an excellent opportunity for students to strengthen their grades well before the final exams.
A huge thank you to the Kippure team for their expertise and to our teachers for their continued support.
